TP4: Water protection measures
The overall objective of the KaWaTech Solutions joint research project is to sustainably protect the highly vulnerable karst water resources in the Dong Van model region, and to establish a water supply for the local population with sufficient quantity and quality. Water is abstracted from the Seo Ho River and distributed to hydraulically accessible locations in the Dong Van model region via an elevated tank.
EE+E (TP4) contributes to ensuring a good quality of the water taken from the Seo River. The contribution is dealt with in work package 4 "Water Protection Measures" in cooperation with DISY Informationssysteme GmbH (DISY) and KIT, Institute for Applied Geosciences (KIT-AGW).
In work package 4, GIS-based methods and a practical, mobile specialist information system (FIS TW) for the analysis of the catchment area of the KaWaTech water supply in the Dong Van model region, are developed. This involves the mapping and assessing of pollution sources, the vulnerability of water resources and determining the risk of contamination with respect to the planned water abstraction at the Seo Ho River. The GIS-based methods are automated and made available in the FIS-TW. The results will help to identify suitable water protection measures that contribute to a better quality of the abstracted water.
